RE: Roof repair
You will find that the rolled edge portion of the roof falls under yearly maintenance.
That rood portion is held down by the caulk where roof meets side trim. You will need to clean the old caulk out (might as well do whole side) then apply new caulk made for the purpose of holding down the roof. I use Sika https://automotive.sika.com/

RE: Running Dedicated Water Line For RV at Home?
Not being a plumber, but to me your plan sounds like it would work just fine. So it gets really cold in Long island NY if you still live there right. If so you will need some way to drain the water out of your water line, unless you buried it below the frost line.

Yes any RV toilet will work. As for quality I can not help much, other than this may be one of those where the price mean a better toilet.

You are going to have one fun project. I would do your google search on rv bus conversion. I did a quick one and there is alot of information on the projects.
I think your hardest part is going to be the plumbing, as the bus is a low floor. Once you figured that out the holding tanks, the water lines etc. the project should be easier.
As for driving a 40' rv or bus once you get used to it there really is no problem. Right hand turns do require some planning, as does stopping.

My go to park was st varian state park just north of Denver. I stopped trying to go there after Colorado changed the reservation policies, it became almost impossible to get a site. Its worth a try for you however great park.

Two years ago I stayed at cherry creek reservoir state park. This also is a great park south of denver.

A few years ago I had a hard time finding a spot in the foot hills and stayed at the KOA in central city. Its a great park but the elevation was to much for me to handle. I totally understand wanting to stay in the lower elevation.

RE: What to do when you are not camping for awhile
I am sure you are knowledgeable about the winterizing stuff, so will pass over that.
I do go out at least once a month and start the engine, either gas or diesel. I let it run for awhile after it reaches running temp. I feel its as important to run the generator under a load. I will start it up then plug in an electric heater. My rigs have always been plug in to shore power 365 so removing the batteries is not a concern. I do have a trickle charger on the engine batteries.
Other than the normal winterizing stuff folks do thats all I do. Now is that correct or not do not know but its been working for me for year.

I like you have never had that happen. I have been using the solo cups for years, I would use scissors to make them shorter then punch 4 holes to let the wounderful aroma escape. Maybe the solo folks are making the cups cheeper not as thick.
Will keep doing maybe put small piece of aluminum foil under cup.

RE: Towing a toad
My original tow set up was the jeep wrangler and blue ox. For me it was a good set up. However now I am using a tow dolly as the jeep became to hard for DW to get in and out of. Plus the dolly gives more car options.
I tried to find the lists of cars you can tow 4 down, but could not find. It seems to get harder and harder to find cars able to tow 4 down.

DW and I are headed there in a week right now in Traverse City MI. Anyway we have reservations at Shipshewana North Park, have never been there so can not let you know anything about the park.

RE: Older Norcold fridge issue
A couple years back the Norcold in my 97 coach decided it was time to stop working. Of course we were in the middle of a monthlong trip.
Anyway after going back and forth about a new frig. or replace the cooling unit. I decided to replace the cooling unit as a DIY project.
I decided that way for a couple reasons, one I am not a very good carpenter and the replacement frig. would not look like it belonged. Get the new frig. in my unit would not be an easy task
I ended up going with replacing the cooling unit from JC Refrigeration

As I am always plugged in and never boondock I decided to go with the 120v only unit. It was a very easy DIY project for the DW and I. JC Refrigeration is really a customer service business. From the how to instructions to answering questions they are number one.
It took in total maybe 2 hours +/- to finish. Once in the unit has kept ice cream frozen and the adult beverage cold all on setting 5

A couple years back DW and I decided we needed to down size from our 35' fifth wheel. We decided to go the class A MH route, as it made more sence for us.
We looked at many sizes and models we ended up with a 29ft gas. After a few short and a couple long trips we found out that we screwed up. Not moving to an "A" but a two short A. We lost so much storage that it made semi long trips harder to plan for. We ended up going to a 37' A with tons of both inside and outside storage. Now being gone for months at a time is really enjoyable.
So my answer to your question moving to a class A was the best move ever. From storage to set up. Start looking for larger unit and work down. Think where you might be a few years down the road.

If I remember correctly (its been a few years) there are a couple tunnels that will cause you some concern. MH's have to get special clearance and close the road while they go through. Might want to check that out.
I myself would have a more enjoyable time renting a car also while there

2024 Trip Planning
The more I look the more confused I get, hopefully I can get some guidance from you folks. Time frame is no real concern, will be leaving Iowa around mid July heading west on HWY 2
1) What to see along hwy2 before getting to Montana and how much time to spend at those spots?
2) Once in Montana is it worth it to go into Canada and up to Calgary? Main reason seeing the Canadian Rockies. How much time is needed
3) Glacier NP how much time needed
4) Yellowstone NP how much time needed
The DW and I DO NOT hike, or bike. We pretty much drive get out see the sights and move on. We need FHU sites so for the most part it will be at private campgrounds i think.
Any help with this adventure will be appreciated

A few years (3) ago we stayed at the Yogi Bears Campground Niagara falls Canada. Eveb though we did not have any kids with us it was close to the falls and had shuttle to and from for its guest. So for that I give it a good grade.
As for the kids stuff to do. There were lots of kids having what looked like a very good time. Theres alot to do at the park, Do not forget to get your picture taken with Yogi

I have stopped using wax on the graphics on my 07 MH. I found the wax was doing more harm than good.
I found this product while asking the same type of question you are.

Do you use the Max's Restorer on the graphics and regular wax on the gel coat that is not covered with a graphic?
I use a mobile detailing service to wash and wax my 5th. They have been using wax on everything for 8 years and my graphics are not faded at all. Not sure if I could get a mobile detailer to use wax on the gel coat and restorer on the graphics. I'm sure it would take longer and cost more.
Simple answer Yes. The restorer has to be put on in the shade, it has something to do with the product. I tried once to do in the sun and could feel the build up of heat on my finger. A little goes a long way, first rub it in then wipe off excess. I know there are alot of waxes out there and everybody has their favorite. I have been using NuFinish for years and am happy.

A few years back the DW and I made the worst decision of our RVing lives. We wanted to down size from a 35' 5th wheel to a smaller Class A. We ended up liking a 29' class A that we thought would do the job for our travels. Boy were we wrong! It really came down to lack of storage for long term travels.
We started looking for Class A's that we could be gone months at a time with storage. Thats when we ended up with the 38' DP and have not looked back.
My thoughts for you are look at storage both inside and out. Look at what you can get to with the slides "in" , as DW likes to use bathroom while traveling getting to the frig. that kind of thing.

If you are traveling with pets you will need a, I believe, health certificate not older than 30 days. But check it out I may be wrong on the time. I know 3 years ageo I needed the pet form but was never asked for it at the boarder.
